Got a figurative new itch to scratch? Does the status quo suddenly feel faux? Do you want to flip over a coffee table for no good reason?
Can't relate to any of this but recognizing that there's a new restless energy bubbling up in a previously content area of life?
Congrats to all of us—because on July 7th, Uranus,
the planet of liberation, rebellion, destabilization,
and innovation, busted into a new sign, one much more
suited for its quick-pivot and changeable nature: Gemini.
For you Taurus risings, Uranus temporarily parting your first house may elicit a sigh of relief and a “go ahead, have fun turning my finance house upside down,” as you bid good riddance whilst dusting up the debris of what Uranus relegated uncool. For those Gemini risings—welcome to a period of radical experimentation.
Uranus is the most energetic and externally expressive of the modern outer planets and by far the least subtle. Before diving into how this planet affects us personally, a quick word on the U.S and Gemini in Uranus.
Uranus in Gemini for the United States chart coincides with the country's most historically major conflicts, schisms, and upheaval—which tracks, considering Mars (the planet of war and assertion) is co-present with Uranus in the US Sibley Chart (one of the more consensus-popular founding charts of the US).
Okay, changing gears, I'm gonna save that deep dive for another time and instead focus on how this transit may affect you directly.
BREAKING DOWN URANUS IN GEMINI:
(AND HOW IT RELATES TO OUR NATAL CHART):
Gemini is a yang (or masculine),
Mercury-ruled air sign symbolized by the twins.
So when we break down Gemini it looks like:
-An outward seeking (yang),
-Communicative (Mercury),
-Social (Air sign),
-Dualistic (represented by an image of the twins)
… zodiac sign.
Where as Uranus keywords are:
-Disruptive
-Unconventional
-Genius
-Rebellious
-Revolutionary
Now that we've established the essence of the sign of Gemini and the function of the planet Uranus, we turn our attention to what house (area of life) it rules to determine if this transit may be more or less central than Uranus in Taurus.
I've devised this brief checklist to get a sense of what Uranus in Gemini could spark:
Uranus in Gemini Checklist:
1. What house does Gemini rule?
2. Is it an angular house? Angular houses (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th)
are the most energetic and pivotal in our charts. Succedent houses
are next in strength, and cadent houses are often the weakest for
affecting dramatic change.
The 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses answer the most-asked
questions upon meeting someone: Who are you? Where do
you live? Who are you with? And what do you do for work?
3. What natal planets are in Gemini? Are these planets benefics
(Jupiter & Venus), malefics (Saturn & Mars), or the free agent
(Mercury). Is it the planet that rules your rising sign— if so that
def something to pay attention.
For example: Gemini rules my third house (which is cadent and
considered not as strong), but Mars—my malefic of sect and the
ruler of my Ascendant (the planet that rules Aries)—makes
this placement more impactful.
4. What aspects does transiting Uranus in Gemini make with your natal chart?
Does it oppose your Sun? Trine your Venus?
Well that's all for now. If you'd like to understand how Uranus's transit through Gemini affects you directly—and where Neptune and Pluto are currently moving through your chart—my Modern Outer Planet Reading covers these slower transits in detail.
WHAT DOES URANUS IN GEMINI Uranus is moving into Gemini, where it will stay for the next seven years, and how significant that is depends entirely on your natal chart. I put together an interactive checklist to help you figure out just how big a deal this transit might be for you personally.
